Who we work with

  • FartherOur investment platform and compliance infrastructure.
  • New Economics FoundationWhere the first wellbeing model was developed.

Three people. One observation.

Clients were not bringing portfolios into the room. They were bringing their lives.

David Coles had watched financial planning change for two decades. Technology was flattening the field, and what could not be copied was the work done in the room with a client. He asked Felis la Fleur to look at that work from the outside.

Felis saw a pattern that David and Scott, inside it for years, had not named. Most of the time in client meetings went to a child’s crisis, a marriage ending, a parent’s decline, a career that no longer fit. None of the reporting accounted for it, and advisors were measured on portfolio growth alone.

Scott Coles had spent four decades on the same premise: a client’s life is the most important input to their plan, and there was no instrument to account for it. The three of them set out to build one.

It is one thing to measure what a person feels. It is another to feel it, orient to the situation, and act.

How we work

Three commitments carried over from the founding, and kept inside the firm as well as with clients.

People before process

When a process gets in a person’s way, the process changes. The client’s life sets the agenda for every meeting.

Grounded in research

The method began with research on wellbeing and is checked against the literature each year. Decisions inside the firm are held to the same standard.

Built for transition

The work is organized around the moments that change a family’s finances and its sense of itself at the same time.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what is changing in your family. We listen first, and tell you plainly whether we are the right office for it.
